NEW! Google+ Page Upgrade & Verification Process

On 4th August 2012 it was announced that the ability to verify your Google+ Local page had just rolled out.

What this means is that the page you created in Google+ with the place in Google+ Local (formerly Google Places) can now be combined.

Result: Your business presence across Google Search, Google Maps and Google+ will be unified and you will be able to manage this page from your Google+ Pages admin.

Who is it for? This update is relevant to any SME with a Google Places listing.

How to do it? Log into your Google+ account and click on Verify now on the right side of the Google+ page. You’ll need to verify that you’re representing your business by having a postcard sent, even if you’re a verified business owner on Google Places for Business.

Who it is not for? The new upgraded pages aren’t yet available for those that just have local Google+ pages with reviews. Also, verification will only work for pages created in the “Local Business or Place” category in Google+. As this is a staged roll out, at this stage they only support one social local Google+ page linking with one location. There isn’t a bulk verification option right now. The new verification process does not currently support service area businesses with hidden addresses.

If you are not there yet? If you’re curious, go ahead and create a Google+ page in the local category.
